  • Blue circles: 450 MHz RTK Network
  • Green Circles: 900 MHz RTK Network
  • Base Station Overview: The StarFire RTK system consists of a local base station mounted on a structure that transmits high accuracy corrections to vehicle StarFire receivers using RTK radios. It provides sub inch guidance to farm equipment that promotes better farming practices and improved placement of inputs. Within a 12 mile radius, each base station transmits line-of-site guidance to several receivers at any given time. 
  • John Deere RTK Shared Networks: Dekalb Implement's RTK network is a shared network with all surrounding John Deere dealers. Both the 450 MHz and 900 MHz networks are surrounded by other supporting dealers that provide the same signal and accuracy. So if you are near the edge of a coverage area and are wondering if your operation can utilize sub inch guidance, see our AMS consultants so they can show you that you can!
  • 450 MHz RTK Network: The 450MHz network is a reliable network that is intended for adverse field conditions and high foliage areas. It has a higher transmission power and a longer wavelength than the 900MHz. It is a licensed network to prevent interference and promote a stronger signal. Its a great addition to our network for our northern counties!
  • 900 MHz RTK Network: The 900MHz network has been a very reliable signal with repeatable accuracy for growers year after year. This signal has the ability to 'repeat' itself by placing a Repeater Station where signal may be degraded. Dekalb Implement has been maintaining and supporting this network for years that covers approximately 1.4 million acres!
Benefits to Utilizing RTK
  • Reduced overlap:  A producer running RTK can operate at 1-in. pass-to-pass accuracy. The less overlap there is, less inputs are used, which helps drive down overall costs. It also reduces passes in the field for each task every season.
  • No satellite drift: Inherent to any satellite-based guidance system, drift occurs. Whether it is starting up a tractor  in the morning or servicing it during the day, A-B lines can drift during those time periods. With RTK, satellite drift is completely taken out, because the stationary, local base station is now providing the corrections.   
  • Additional functionality:  RTK also enables some of the latest John Deere products. New products like iGuide™ and iSteer™ require RTK corrections to provide the precise accuracy producers need.
